Iceland. It’s a land of majestic waterfalls, volcanoes, glaciers, and otherworldly landscapes. So without further ado, here is our list of five amazing sights that must see in Iceland.

Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)

The aurora borealis dancing across the sky is one of the greatest natural wonders in the world. The best time to see this natural phenomenon in Iceland is on clear nights between September and April. North Iceland and the Westfjords often offer the best chance to see the Northern Lights due to long hours of darkness and the tendency for clearer weather.

Holuhraun

Located in the Highlands of Iceland, Holuhraun is a relatively new site you can visit. Holuhraun is the newest formed lava flow from a volcano that lasted from August 2014 through February 2015. When peering into the rifts of lava, you see many beautifully vivid colors. While driving along the sand, you can still see steam in certain areas.  It is a geological wonder to behold.

Blue Lagoon Spa

This mineral-rich attraction is only minutes from the Keflavik International Airport. There are many spa options available in Iceland due to the geothermic forces and natural elements. The Blue Lagoon is Iceland’s most famous spa with its warm and soothing water, healing silica mud, and charming surroundings.

Reynisfjara Beach

This beach is gorgeous and an absolute must-see on your vacation to Icleand! With its rare black sand and basalt columns, there is so much to explore on this volcanic shoreline. While on Reynisfjara beach, you can see Gardar basalt columns that resembles a staircase to heaven. It is a natural pyramid formed by columnar jointing. There are many basalt columns throughout Iceland, but this is by far the most exceptional.

Seljalandsfoss

It is one of the Iceland’s most famous and visited falls. Majestic and picturesque, Seljalandsfoss is one of the most photographed features in all of Iceland. The most distinguishing feature of Seljalandsfoss is a pathway that stretches around it, allowing guests to walk behind the falls.
