Bermuda wooden sign

As your plane descends into Bermuda, you will notice the deep turquoise waters and sheer limestone cliffs. Although the island is only 21 miles long and a mile wide, it is home to various beaches, nature reserves, museums, restaurants, and shops. Here are all the best things to get a proper feel for Bermuda

Blue Hole Park

Throughout the park, a network of underground tunnels connects the pools and caves. Enjoy swimming, cliff jumping, and cave exploring. The Blue Hole is a large, deep pool fringed by mangroves that provides an enticing spot to swim surrounded by forest.

Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo

The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum, and Zoo is an excellent place to bring the kids for a half-day of island-inspired exploration. There are three distinct areas: the aquarium, where you peruse tanks filled with fish and other marine life; the natural history museum; and the zoo featuring animals found in island ecosystems.

Bermuda Botanical Gardens

The Bermuda Botanical Gardens is a 36-acre park established in 1898 to protect Bermuda's endemic trees and plants. Along with flowers, you'll find a palm garden with native palmetto trees and a subtropical fruit garden.

Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute

The BUEI houses artifacts and interactive exhibits to help promote an understanding of our oceans. It features three floors of exhibits, making it perfect for families or anyone interested in learning more about the island's diverse marine environment.

Horseshoe Bay Beach in Bermuda

Horseshoe Bay Beach

Horseshoe Bay Beach is one of the island's most iconic stretches of pink sand. It is so indelibly Bermuda. Famed across the globe as one of the most picturesque beaches, this one is not to be missed.

Gibbs Hill Lighthouse

The lighthouse was built of cast iron. It is the oldest of its kind in the world and only one of two cast-iron lighthouses still in existence. Climb the 185-step spiral staircase to enjoy a panoramic view of the whole island.

Dockyard Glassworks & Bermuda Rum Cake Company

Glassworks creates glass art objects ranging from tiny trinkets to impressive translucent serving dishes. Watch master blowers create colorful vases from hot molten glass. The Bermuda Rum Cake factory makes traditional Bermudian rum cakes made with Gosling's rum in eclectic local flavors.

Walker Christopher

This small Hamilton shop specializes in one-of-a-kind pieces. Many creations are fashioned from antique coins and shipwreck treasures found at the bottom of Bermuda's waters. With a unique fine jewelry collection, this shop is where to go if you want heirloom jewelry that tells a story.

Crystal & Fantasy Caves in Bermuda

Crystal & Fantasy Caves

One of Bermuda's hidden treasures is a pair of caves with underground pools and incredible stalactites. Guided tours will take you deep inside these two caves, over millions of years old, where you descend below ground for a phenomenal natural experience.

The Swizzle Inn

Bermuda has two national drinks. The Dark n' Stormy is Gosling's Black Seal Rum and ginger beer. The Rum Swizzle is a not-so-sweet punch originally invented at the Swizzle Inn. Nearly every bar and restaurant in Bermuda serves Rum Swizzles. However, you must try the original before leaving the island.

Lili Bermuda Perfumery

Twice a week, the Lili Bermuda Perfumery hosts a classic English Afternoon Tea in the elegant gardens of the shop. It is a picturesque spot to indulge in a quintessentially British pastime with fine teas and seasonal treats that highlight local ingredients. All the staples are there: tiered trays of finger sandwiches, petit-fours, and scones are served with local honey, jam, and Chantilly cream.

Bailey's Bay Ice Cream Parlour

This dessert destination serves homemade ice creams, sherbets, sorbets, and frozen yogurts. While you're sure to spot some classic flavors, you'll also see island-specific scoops, like Dark n' Stormy and Bermuda Banana. On hot days, you'll see the crowd on the patio before you've even parked.
