Perfect Timing: The Best Destinations to Visit Each Season

Have you ever found yourself eagerly planning a vacation, only to realize that it coincided with the rainy season at your destination? There are so many spectacular places to visit around the world. However, they do not all have perfect weather year-round. As a luxury travel advisor, one of my first conversations with clients revolves around matching their travel plans with destinations that offer the best experiences for that time of year.

To ensure your travels are perfectly timed for unforgettable experiences, here is a summary of the best destinations to visit during different times of the year.

MARCH - MAY

EUROPE beckons with spectacular weather during these months, making it ideal for wandering the enchanting streets of Rome, Paris, or Madrid. Turn your vacation into a multi-destination journey by exploring off-the-beaten-path medieval towns full of charm and history near these iconic cities. Spring is the perfect season to explore most of Europe. 

CARIBBEAN beaches boast warm temperatures year-round, offering a delightful escape from colder climates. Visiting during this time ensures pleasant weather before the onset of the very hot and humid summer months. It also avoids the hurricane season. Some of our favorite islands are Turks & Caicos, Barbados, St. Lucia, and Antigua.

JUNE - AUGUST

AFRICA is at its driest during the summer months. Wildlife is most visible as animals migrate to the little water that remains in the parched landscape. Enjoy Cape Town and the nearby Winelands, then venture on to a Safari. 

ALASKA is in full swing with hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, and flightseeing tours. The highest amount of glacier cruises are out on the water. Salmon return to spawn, which lures anglers to Ship Creek for the annual Slam'n Salmon Festival. During these months, you can take advantage of the long summer days in the land of the midnight sun.

SEPTEMBER - NOVEMBER

EUROPE is less crowded this time of year and is a perfect time to see the wine regions like Bordeaux. It's also an excellent time to enjoy a river cruise along the Rhine or Danube Rivers. The colors are spectacular, and the weather is still very pleasant. 

FRENCH POLYNESIA is busiest during the summer months. Visiting in September and October offers fewer crowds while still having warm weather in the dry season. From December to April, it is very hot, humid, and rainy. Bora Bora is best known for its overwater bungalows and romantic atmosphere, but several other islands are worth visiting. 

DECEMBER - FEBRUARY

HAWAII has terrific weather year-round, but you can also see the amazing humpback whales during the winter months. Hawaii is like no other destination. There are six islands, each unique, with its own vibe, activities, and adventures.

MEKONG RIVER flows through Vietnam and Cambodia. Sail during the dry season when there is not too much rain. This time of year is also when the fruits of the region are at their ripest. Visit rural villages, historic pagodas, colorful markets, and monasteries. Then relax on the sundeck, watching the countryside as you sail.
